The Drum Session with the Basotho-Rasta-Quaker

The following blog post was written on the evening of 9th July. Due to technological restrictions it was posted at a later date.

The other night we experienced something interesting-we spend the evening with a Basotho-Rasta-Quaker named Kennedy. He explained that when he discovered he was HIV+ he left his home and wanted to find some time with nature.

Now he has built a school for AIDS orphans where he currently lives. We all sat around a big bonfire in a circle and spent over an hour or so playing West Africa drums as a group.

Kennedy was quite a character. Many members of the group believed he possibly smoked something prior to our visit, as he seemed a little, actually a lot out there in la-la-land but it was still a unique experience and a lot of fun.
