Lavender Cottage: Gable Manor in Franschhnoek (Winelands)

The following blog post was written on the evening of the 3rd of August

When looking for a place for us to stay in the Winelands it was difficult to find a place for three people, most places are romantic rooms for couples visiting together.

From Columbus I found a link to something called the Lavender Cottage, which was owned by the Gable Manor resort. It looked nice enough and, although it was more expensive than most the places we were planning on staying, it was responsibly priced considering the area is touristy.

We arrived today not knowing what to expect…and we were totally stunned. The place is unbelievable; although I would not really call it a cottage-it is a huge fricken house! There are two big bedrooms with queen sized beds, a loft with a set of twin beds, a huge living room with vaulted ceilings, a full kitchen with a washer/dryer (which is sweet since our clothing pretty much stinks), a backyard, and there is even a fireplace. Also, the bedroom I claimed has a huge bathtub in it and I cannot wait to sink into a hot, bubbly mess of conformability. There are space heaters in every room, as well as extra blankets in every closet. I cannot remember the last time that I “had” more than one room to call my own-so having a whole house is overwhelming. Luckily for us, the Lavender Cottage has a great security system to make us feel nice and safe while we are cozily covered in all our extra blankets.

The place was a huge surprise for us, as we have been staying in backpackers and would have been happy with far less plush accommodations. However, it is a happy surprise-specially considering we are playing about $100 a night (divided by three makes it pretty affordable). I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place to anybody coming to this area. In fact, this place is so nice that I would actually recommend people add this location to their trip simply to stay here!
