Walskipper Restaurant, Jeffery’s Bay

The following blog post was written on the evening of the 2nd of August in the car driving on the Garden Route to Knysna, South Africa

We left the game park and drove through Port Elizabeth, as we heard that there is not a whole lot to see if you are just passing through. My guidebook (thanks, mom) mentioned the small surf town of Jeffery’s Bay, which is commonly known to be one of the top three surf beaches in the world.

The adorable town is also the home to Walskipper, a restaurant literately a few meters from the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean. The restaurant does not spend a lot of money of ambiance (there are no walls and the floor consists of sand) because it doesn’t need to-it is already perfectly lovely. The food, which was served by a slightly unfriendly man, was fantastic. We were each allowed to slice ourselves huge chunks of homemade bread before our food came, which kept our appetites at bay why waiting for our food. I had the fish of the day, which turned out to be an enormous platter of fish and rice served on an enamel plate.

Overall the experience eating there was fantastic and it was a perfectly timed to break up our drive between Addo and Knysna.
